What is a Birth Doula?
Birth doulas accompany women and their partners in labor and delivery to help ensure that they have the most rewarding birth experience possible. Doulas do not replace active participation from partners. A doula can assist partners by helping them better assist their loved one. This allows birth partners to be involved to the level of their comfort. This takes a lot of the pressure off partners and mothers so that they can enjoy their births more. Going through labor and birth can have a profound affect on both mothers and fathers and a doula can help provide support to families as they embark on this exciting and sometimes daunting experience. Doulas provide informational, educational and comfort measure support. They are there for you and your family and are hired by you. Their main focus is on you and your comfort and progress throughout your labor. Families who include doulas tend to be happier with their birth experiences.
Our doula services :
We have doulas in a variety of price ranges to fit your budget! We have doulas at all stages of training and expertise. All of our doulas are certified or working towards certification through DONA- Doulas of North America. They all follow DONAs Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. All of our doulas have had background checks done on them as well.
Our newest doulas have attended their DONA approved training and are in the process of acquiring their certification. What they may lack in experience they make up for in their enthusiasm! They have unlimited access to to our expert doulas during every birth. They provide back-up for each other and have a great support system in place to help them assist families having the type of birth they desire.
Fees are $250.00
We have experienced doulas that are already certified through DONA.
These doulas have had several to many births and provide excellent care to families as they go through their labor and birth experiences. These doulas have been tried and have passed with flying colors. They also have our expert doulas on call for them should they need any assistance.
Fees are $500.00
We also have expert doulas that have attended hundreds of births and often have other credentialling as well-as Childbirth educators, breastfeeding educators, parenting and massage expertise. These doulas have had enormous range of experiences, as well as having experiences at hospitals, home births and birth center births. These doulas have an arsenal of experience with which to draw from to provide families with many options regarding comfort as well as progress through labor and birth.
Their fees are $700.00
All of our doulas Provide:
Reassurance and perspective for you and your partner.
- Assist you in creating your own personal birth preferences.
- Information as to what is happening and options you have during your labor.
- Assist you in finding innovative ways to help your labor progress.
- Assistance with breathing and relaxation techniques.
- Assistance with comfort measures such as massage and positions throughout labor and birth.
- Help you get breastfeeding off to a good start.
- Are on call for you for questions at any time throughout your pregnancy.
- Usually meet with families 2 -3 times prior to labor and stay in contact by phone as your due date approaches.
- Remain with you throughout your labor and birth.
- Suggestions as your labor progresses.
Our doulas remain on-call for you should any problems arise in those first few days after delivery as well.
We are independent and self-employed professionals, working solely for you, and not your caregivers, or hospital.
